Just before Thanksgiving I finished making trivits from some tile I collected while in Alaska. I love this artists work. The native dress is beautiful and I really like the bright colors. I like the happy activites of the ladies the very best.
I have decided that I don't like grouting and am not very good at it either. One time when Jenny was really little, maybe 3 or 4 years old, I decided we would try making christmas ball for the tree out of red and green string dipped in glue and wrapped around a balloon. You let it dry then you pop the ballon and pull out the pieces of balloon you have a lattice of string. Well when we were dipping the string it was really messy and Jenny started to get upset and cry and say, "it's messy momma!" She was so distressed at the sticky feel and mess. Well I kept thinking that as I tried to grout the tiles and wipe the surfaces clean. And of course, then, I miss my little girl even more then usual.

Those are beautiful momma! What's a trivet? I'll have to show you some of the tricks to grouting as it can't be annoying. I don't like how it dries out your hands and then keeps showing up on the surface of your tiles. You have to buff them like crazy to get them to really shine!!! These turned our just gorgeous though!

I probably spelled it wrong. They are the thing you put under a hot dish so that it won't harm your table or counter top. That is why I wanted to have them finished for Thanksgiving, to use then on the island in the kitchen with the things out of the oven.
